Animal community. Dovre, Norway. July 27, 2020. I was driving on a dirt road in some far-flung place Norway when I passed these sheep resting near the road. Sheep are gregarious creatures, and in this area of Norway they are grazing outlying fields every summer, which probably reinforces the bonds between them. As I carefully approached the sheep in my car, their appreciation of their own community was obviously far more important than their fear of an approaching vehicle; I slowed down and took this photo. Their sense of community, their social virtues and connection with the land were all obvious traits.
